You were built for abundance…

God’s original mission statement to humankind was one of abundance…Be fruitful, multiply, subdue and take dominion.

Albeit, man blew it and the earth has been cursed. Life’s circumstance is often neither pleasant nor easy. True success requires perseverance and diligence. Money doesn’t grow on trees…and the LOVE OF money is the root of evil and the cause all sorts of problems.

Here’s the flip-side. The Bible says that hope deferred makes the heart sick. The 23rd Psalm promises that “I shall not want…” God’s Word is full of promises regarding, not only God’s desire to care for His kids, but also to prosper them. The Bible says that the enemy is the thief that comes to steal, kill and destroy but that Christ came to give us ABUNDANT life!

So where is the balance between destructive greed and abundant living? I think it lies in heart motivation. A life of self, no matter how luxurious, is an empty and dangerous life. A life of abundant giving is another thing.

I believe three very powerful things about you…

1. God created you to be extraordinary. You are uniquely special because you were specially designed to share God’s influence on the earth in a way that only you can.
2. You were built for abundance. If God has placed a dream in your heart (and He has whether you have recognized it yet or not) He has already abundantly supplied everything necessary to fulfill that dream. Though you may not have realized or attained it yet, Christ has provided the people, resources, ideas and finance to fulfill His purpose through you. Does it all fall into your lap automatically? NO WAY. There is a process that you have to cooperate with. I’ll discuss that more at another place and time. For now, suffice it to say that the process begins when you begin to align your beliefs with God’s will for your life. You must believe in your own value to God. You must believe in His desire to exert His influence through your life. Finally you must believe in His desire and power to abundantly supply all that is needed to fulfill the dreams and desires that HE HAS PLANTED in your heart. He wants your life to showcase His own goodness to the world around you.
3. Which brings me to my final belief about you…the one that gives balance to the first two. You were placed on the earth to make a meaningful, God-sized contribution to your world. Purpose is ultimately about influence. The legacy that you’ll leave behind won’t be the size of your house or the type of car that you drove. It will be the lives that you impacted and changed. Everything else in life is simply a means to that end.

Now I hear people all the time say that IF their magic ship ever sailed in…If they hit the lottery, etc. THEN they’d share the wealth with friends, family, church and community. The problem is that ABUNDANCE ONLY MAGNIFIES THE CURRENT STATE OF YOUR HEART! If your heart is fearful now, it will be more fearful if abundance comes. Just listen to all of the horror stories from those who did hit the big one!

My recommendation is to do it now! Take a step of faith to believe that you are extraordinary…right now. Begin to make abundant contributions in proportion the means that you currently have. Stretch yourself in terms of kindness and charity towards others and make this a habit that continues to grow with your level of prosperity. I promise you, you can’t go wrong with a lifestyle that flows from this kind of heart. Blessings…R.P.P.
